Welcome

The Costandel Boarding House is situated on one of the winding and peaceful streets of the village Sibiel Sibiel. Sibiel is only 20 km away from Sibiu, calmly following the line of villages sorting out the national highway and making their way through the Fagaras Mountains. The Sibiel village is a site whose written history dates back to the 14th century. The historical documents mention three main episodes of Sibiel: the episode of the Citadel (the 14th century), the locals saying that once upon a time, Decebal, the ruler of Dacia, had hidden his treasures in order to protect them from the Roman emperor Traian; the episode of the Monastery (the beginning of the 18th century), when Sibiel is acknowledged as a school for teachers and ministers; last but not least the documents Sibielspeak of the episode of the “Holy Trinity” Church (also in the 18th century). Today, the visitors of Sibiel may experience its Museum episode, having the opportunity to view the largest exhibition of icons painted on glass; the Museum hosts over 700 icons.

In the center of the village one can find The Costandel Boarding House, situated in the vicinity of the Church and the Museum. If you stop at The Costandel Boarding House you have the opportunity to get acquainted with the local people and to taste the traditional food cooked by the hosts of the boarding house.
